Great little story but this old guy would rather wait a little longer for each season to appear; take your time.

Fall has been, since I was a little girl, my favorite of the seasons. I love this poem so much... brings back memories! Odd how fall marks endings as the harvest is gathered, but the endings bring a fresh sense of the importance and finiteness of life, and fresh awe for deeper things we still don't understand. At the same time, the dormant season gives life a much needed rest and regeneration period. Maybe the missing leaves showcase the beauty of the bones of the trees and of the songs we sing. All I know is I'm most fully alive in the fall. Come on, now!

I always enjoy the bounce and rhythm of words racing accross the page, taking me on a journey with your ten year old self. I raised three boys and your, "SONS OF STARMOUNT" gave me a peek into their once young minds.

I miss your trips to upstate NY.

Best Wishes to you.

Having recently moved to Tennessee this past spring from Florida…. I am so excited for all the seasons but especially ready for Fall. Went on a Sunday drive with my hubby and we spotted a few burst of colors in the hills….. can’t wait for the whole rainbow to show up.

Thank you for this beautiful call out to Fall! I agree…. I’m ready for Fall to take her place.

Another well crafted, beautiful piece my friend! You truly have the gift of being able to give a voice to emotions and memories, that we often don’t have the ability to express or even understand ourselves. I got my first taste of that gift when I got my first John Denver album when I was 10, and have tried since then to to develop the gift. With or without the benefit of a melody on which to paint your pictures, you are quite the artist Mark. For at least the duration of reading this offering, I could smell the smells of autumn, see the colors, and be briefly transported to a dozen wonderful memories forever associated with this magical change of season. And like you, left longing for the moment to last. Thank you for all the work and commitment it takes to share your art with with a world in need. Looking forward to the next installment!

You reminded me of a time when I hadn't been back east in many years for a foliage as I was living on the west coast. I happened to go to my aunt's lake house on Keuka Lake in Hammondsport, NY and was brought to tears once reminded how truly magical and transformative it is to witness a peak foliage. I was in my mid-twenties I went around collecting my favorites leaves like I was back in kindergarten, what a joyful time. Well done God, well done!!

I'm not a fan of hot weather anymore and Fall is by far my favorite season. But seems it arrives later every year. The words of your piece spoke to the weary and sweaty me while I continue to wait patiently for the leaves to show their color before they fall to the ground withered and brown. Come on Fall!!!! Thanks for another beauty Mark.
