Well you know how I love my dogs and I was crazy enough to get a new puppy for my current pup because he has grown so attached to me that he’s in agony when I’m gone. The little guys name is Luca and he’s a sweetheart. My boy Lazlo has been so sweet and kind and instinctively knows that he’s a puppy and is gentle and patient. The thing about dogs is that they love unconditionally… I think that’s why we as humans get so attached and bond so deeply with them. Unconditional love is truly an amazing thing and a gift that can’t help the heart sore. I suspect you wrote this because you lost one of your sweet furry friends. Hugs from Colorado.

E and I have lost so many of our 4 legged family since being in Tn. It never gets easier, holding them and trying to send a last word of love for their journey.

But thank you for putting words to our feelings of loss and pain and hope for seeing them again when we pass. That's what I hold on to...a day we might be greeted by them all, and understanding we did good as animal parents.

I don’t think the day of the year matters, whether it’s the first day, last day or any of the 365 we need to say goodbye. We love our pups and would do anything for them. Sending them over the Rainbow Bridge is a difficult task, sometimes at our choice and sometimes at their choice. But any day is rough and tough to deal with. Yes, we get past the pain but we always miss them. And yes, we get new pups without thinking of their final day but that’s because we love them.

This really hits a chord. I lost my dearest dog Kena on the highway outside my cabin, exactly as you describe it. I let her loose that morning to run free in the snow. That guilt stayed with me a long time. It was crushing. And I did get another dog, and loved that dog as much - as you say, because that's what dog lovers do. Thanks for sharing these very universal thoughts.

Old dog is such a beautiful song and I like your voice very much. I’ve always loved Larry & Robins dogs. Always so deeply loved and cared for, don’t know if they knew how lucky they were to have them, but they all deserved each other. I’m sure Larry is walking with Delaney again and that Nokki is greeting him happily. Thank you for your story.
