I Never will forget the first time that I saw
That big red suit and long white beard in the middle of the mall
I sat up on his lap and handed him my list
While mama took a polaroid to put up on the fridge

When Christmas trees were tall, and we were little kids
We’d lie beneath the branches dreaming of the gifts
We’d hear reindeer on the rooftop and Santa’s footsteps fall
It was easy to believe in things when Christmas trees were tall

There was really peace on earth on that silent night
And all around the world, one star was shining bright
The promise of tomorrow was there in every heart
As warm as that fireplace flickerin’ in the dark
